Arts Project Australia

I don't know if I have mentioned Arts Project Australia (APA) in my blog yet. APA is a wonderful organisation where I help out on Saturdays. It is a gallery and studio space for artists with intellectual disabilities. The studio is a creative, energetic space with everyone busily working away on their own projects. The downstairs gallery exhibits the artists' work with a constantly changing exhibition program and is well worth a look. You can check out the website here.

There is such a huge variety of work by the artists, but some of my favourites are below:

Fulli Andrinopoulos

Julian Martin

Paul Hodges

Steven Perrette

Catherine Staughton
I guess the most interesting thing about art for me is that it expresses an individual's experience and view of the world. The work of the artists at APA is especially meaningful given that their experience of being in the world is likely to be so different from our own.

Will post more drawings soon.

ciao
